A sensory listening environment made with Leeds pupils.

The White Noise Factory is an evolving set of music & sound collaborations that privilege sensory meaning-making over intellectual meaning-making, and an immersive environment designed to share those collaborations with audiences.

This is part of an ongoing collaboration with artist Rhiannon Armstrong to develop the White Noise Factory project. Pupils at Leeds West SILC (Specialist Inclusive Learning Centre) created original music for this project in 2024, and in 2026 the team are returning to collaborate with pupils again, this time on new textile works that will become part of the spatial design.

About the artist.

Rhiannon Armstrong is an award-winning interdisciplinary artist making works with empathy, interaction, and dialogue at their core, often for unfiltered audiences. Conversation and collaboration are central to her practice: between makers of different disciplines, public contributors, and audiences.
